Ani and Thomas from Hood River, Oregon, had only recently had their precious little baby girl. When I asked Ani what made her want to organise a photoshoot with me (my name is not exactly well known all the way in Oregon), she said she loves photos and she wants all important memories captured. So every time she gets an opportunity, she wants photos done of their family - something that Thomas isn't always an all too willing a participant, but I got the feeling he will do anything to make Ani happy.
And I agree with Ani. Our lives are important. The people in our lives are important. And the memories we make with those people are far, far more precious than any material thing we may own. Because it's these memories that make up our lives. And so these memories deserve to be beautifully captured! If not necessarily every day, then at every opportunity you get.
This was my first time in Columbia River Gorge.  And Oregon too. I must admit, together with Washington, this is my favourite area of the United States. I have travelled quite a bit in US and Canada, but the Pacific Northwest simply blew me away! The mountains, rivers, lakes, forests, dramatic coastline - it has it all! And I must admit, while I do enjoy a nice beach too, I'll take a dramatic mountain vista over a calm beach anytime.
We took Ani and Thomas photos in the grounds of Westcliff Lodge. It overlooks the actual Columbia River as well as the Washington state on the other side of the river. The sun was setting, leaving only a soft warm glow in its wake - perfect for some lovely romantic photos.
