Elopement in the French Alps
Photographing Shawna and Harry’s elopement in the French Alps by Chamonix was certainly an incredible experience! We went up on a small train from Chamonix to Montenvers at an altitude of 1913m. There we marvelled at Mer de Glace – the largest glacier in France. And we tried to hike up higher into the mountains with our snowshoes. Tried being the operative word here! Over the last few days there was a very heavy snowfall, which looked beautiful, but meant that even with snowshoes we sank in by a good half a meter into the snow! But what a day it was! It was sunny and, surprisingly, warm! There was not a breeze to be found, so even though the temperature was only slightly above freezing point, it felt much warmer! Unfortunately, we had to leave too quickly as the last train back down to Chamonix was at 4pm! We would have been happy to hang out there for another hour or two!
