Alex and Matt from London decided to get married in Maughold, a little village that Alex grew up in. It's cute and lovely. The Maughold church was a minute or two walk away from where Alex was getting ready and a few minute walk away from the reception marquee. Whilst using wedding cars to go to different locations are fun in some weddings, there is something that can be said about walking from getting ready venue to the church to photoshoot location and finally to the reception venue. It made the day so relaxing and easy-going, which perfectly suited the bride and groom.
As soon as I walked in Alex's parents house, I was greeted by the incredible smell of sweet peas. To me, nothing says summer like the sweet peas. The summer vibe was even more accentuated by bridal parties gorgeously colourful dressing gowns and bride's beautiful hair wreath, provided by Robinson's.
Once Alex had her stunning yet unpretentious wedding dress on, we went in the garden to take some photos. The rain started to drizzle down, which didn't worry her in the slightest and she was completely content to run around barefoot in the grass. In my opinion, barefoot is the best way to be, even on your wedding day!
Alex and Matt were very well prepared for the rain with lovely white umbrellas that the guests could borrow and use. They worked very well and after the ceremony, allowed me and the couple to walk around and take plenty of photos despite the rain becoming heavier.
While rain can be challenging on your wedding day as most brides don't want their dress getting wet and muddy, it can also be a lot of fun, if you do decide to not let it worry you or stop you from making the most out of your day and making every second count. Because you only get one wedding day (hopefully), so make it the best wedding or elopement day for you, no matter the weather or any other hiccups that may arise before or during it. Because your wedding matters! And every moment that comprise your wedding day matters!
