Luxury safari wedding in Masai Mara, Kenya

When a Swedish baroness marries a British guy on a luxury safari trip in Masai Mara, Kenya, and books me to be their photographer!

Mina and Miles are two incredible people, who got married on a luxury safari trip in Masai Mara, Kenya. They're wedding happened over 3 days with their friends and family, who travelled there from all over the world. Mina is, or rather was, a Swedish baroness and Miles is a British guy. Both of them have lived and worked in Nairobi for many years, which is also where they met! Despite being from Europe, both of them are passionate about the country that they now call home - Kenya. That is clear and undeniable, from the way they talk about Kenya to the fact that they chose this to be the place for their wedding.

Day 1

This day started very early for me. I woke up at 5am at my hotel in Nairobi (the capital of Kenya), got picked up by a driver at 6am and driven 7 hours to my hotel Fairmont Mara Safari Club, where I had to check in, get changed and head off to meet the couple.

The whole wedding party of over 100 people than headed for a 2hr game drive through the Masai Mara park, spotting amazing animals! I was in the car with the bride and her bridesmaids. At one point, our safari vehicle got stuck in the mud and needed to be pulled out!

After the safari drive, we then headed up a hill for a Sundowner Drinks, where the guests enjoyed watching the sun set over the Masai Mara, whilst having drinks and mingling. And bride and groom got pulled into a performance by the Maasai.

By the end of the day, I was ready for a well deserved dinner and some sleep. It had been an incredible day and I couldn't wait for the next one!

"Zané is an incredible photographer. She captured our entire wedding weekend in the Masai Mara perfectly. The photos are unreal! We could not be more happy having Zané as our wedding photographer." Mina + Miles

Day 2. The Wedding.

I started the morning of Mina and Miles wedding very early. This was my first time in Masai Mara, so I wanted to make sure I enjoy and make the most out of every minute. So I joined a few of the wedding guests for a safari game drive. We saw wildebeest, lions, giraffes and other animals.

After getting back to the Fairmont and having some breakfast, it was time to head to the stunning House in the Wild Masai Mara, where Mina and Miles were getting ready and having their wedding later on.

I started the day with capturing Miles and his friends with the background noise of hippos snorting. And then headed off to capture Mina and her friends.

On the way to the ceremony we passed a giraffe and a zebra! You don't get that in Europe!

The ceremony itself was by the beautiful Mara River. It was a gorgeous ceremony in a stunning setting! At the end of the ceremony, the couple were surprised with traditional Masai wedding gifts - a beautiful necklace for the bride and a spear for the groom.

It's always great to hear speeches that come from the heart and really move the couple, their guests and me! And those were that kind of speeches at this wedding!

We then headed for couple's photos and here we hit the jackpot! Photographing Mina and Miles with giraffes and elephants was like something out of a dream!

We then headed back to the House in the Wild for food and dancing.
